Site Visit March 13th

boatsI’ve been away in Tasmania for a while and haven’t been out to Boreen Point. This morning I went out to meet a very kind gentleman who has offered to lend me a house to stay in during Floating Land (a gift from the Gods I think) and to have a look at how site has ended up after the floods.

The water has receded quite a lot, but things are looking a little different in the aftermath of the floods. There are still two fishing boats moored in the site, and it is a lot more exposed on the land and water sides as some vegetation has washed away and sand has been deposited, but its still a sweet little inlet and I hope I’ll be able to use it. I guess we just have to wait and see how it looks in May. Things might change again by then.

I walked a way up into the bush with my house benefactor and saw the most amazing teatree forest. He says in there it is silent like being on the snow, that sort of deadened, airless sound. I just loved the vertical trunks beside the lagoon and the beautiful textures. Only had my phone so it’s not much of a pic, but it stays in my mind as a magic moment.
